2015 will see the iconic Land Rover Freelander replaced by the much anticipated, and recently unveiled, new Land Rover Discovery Sport which will also be the first member of the emerging Discovery family. The Discovery Sport is set to go on sale from the 22nd of January 2015, with prices expected to start from £32,395.
According to WhatCar?, this new entry to the Land Rover range has been specifically designed to be the most versatile car in its division, whilst still retaining the high quality for which Land Rover is renowned.
The exterior of the new Discovery Sport is in many respects a mixture of the old and the new, borrowing heavily from the design of the Range Rover Evoque yet also featuring an all new rear end design, and has an undeniably sleek and aerodynamic silhouette.
Inside, the designers at Land Rover have worked hard to give the car a sporty look and feel, and there’s no question that the car’s interior is beautifully designed and finished, encompassing a real quality feel. Interestingly, despite being no larger than a number of its main competitors, the Land Rover Discovery Sport still manages to squeeze in seven seats. The Discovery Sports’ seating is also incredibly flexible. Indeed, Land Rover describe the Discovery Sport as having an optional 5+2 seating arrangement rather than as being a 7-seater model.
According to its specifications, the Discovery Sport features a 2.2 litre turbo-diesel engine, and will also be available with a new 2.0 litre engine later next year. There’s no denying that the Discovery Sport is a proper Land Rover too, and has some impressive off-roading abilities, feeling more than capable off road.
